This demonstration
presents results from a GOTHIC calculation for steam being injected into cold water.
The container is initially filled with air and water and is closed at the top. Steam
is injected from the right side in the form of a horizontal jet with a velocity of 13
meters per second. The injected steam pushes the water toward the top of the
container, compressing the air above. As individual steam bubbles break free of the
jet and rise toward the top, steam condensation causes them to decrease in size.
