GOTHIC Applications

GOTHIC is a thermal hydraulics package that has been widely used in the nuclear power industry for years. The powerful solver can be run separately from the GUI. This allows the engineer to design the models on his desktop and run them on a server with no graphics output to slow the solver. GOTHIC uses proprietary algorithms to run in parallel on multicore machines with extremely low overhead.

It is most widely known for its uses in containment analysis. However, large bubble flow through pipes, Hydrogen burns, suppression pools and water hammers are all areas in which GOTHIC accels. Piping layouts can be designed and analyzed, parametric studies can be used to optimize components, and GOTHIC can be used to input/output data through programs such as Excel and Access.

For nearly 25 years NAI has worked with the NRC to provide excellence in CFR compliance. Along with this comes a tough QA program that allows GOTHIC to provide answers that can be trusted. The code is continually updated through user requests and support is always available from the GOTHIC staff.
